How big or small can PDR fix?
It might seem an impossible feat – to remove a dent from a car without affecting the paint, or without needing to repaint a panel altogether. But with paintless dent removal (also known as PDR, or PDR dent removal) you can indeed have your dents, dings, or creases removed from your vehicle, truck, or motorbike without painting.
Paintless dent repair was first introduced over 30 years ago in the 1980’s when a gentleman who wanted to remove dents from prestige cars was looking for ways to repair small dents that happened during the manufacture and delivery of their upmarket cars. Read on to find out which sized dents are suitable for paintless dent repair.
D ents on vehicles, trucks, and motorbikes come in all shapes and sizes. We’re able to repair the majority of dents up to the size of basketball-sized damage. Generally, as a guide to help, a small dent would be the size of a shirt button.
As long as your car or motorbike paintwork hasn’t been cracked or scratched through the clear coat or we are unable to repair the dent due to the dent being stretched beyond repair, our team can help assist with dents small and large.
Basketball sized dents
Believe it or not, we can remove large dents the size of a basketball – so long as the paintwork hasn’t been jeopardized. Large dents in the correct location can be easily removed without compromising a professional finish or quality service.
Button-sized dents.
Small button-sized dents are generally caused by light hail damage, or others opening car doors onto your car in tight spaces mostly causing small car park dents. Depending on the location, these types of dents take a short period of time to remove.
What to consider for Large and Small Dent Repair
There are a few aspects to consider when it comes to dents that can be fixed using paintless dent repair or PDR methods.
- The first is if the paint has stress marks or cracks. If this is the case then pdr wouldn’t help.
- The second is the severity of the dent. The deeper the dent, the less likely the panel will be to return to its original shape.
- Some other considerations include whether or not it has a crease ( not a round smooth dent) which makes it difficult to repair without fully removing the dent. All of these factors make a big difference.
The team at No Ever-Dents will inspect your damaged vehicle, truck or motorcycle before any work is carried out, to ensure we’re satisfied we are able to remove the dent. Below is a recent petrol tank we repaired for a customer’s motorcycle.
